Moving the NGA

Today I will be moving the NGA off Hostgator and on to my VPS. I do not see the point in paying for two separate services, so I'll be dropping Hostgator.

The BBS will be on lockdown until the move is done so if by some freak of nature someone posts while I'm moving the database, it won't be lost when the move is complete.

I do not expect there to be any noticeable downtime. However there is a chance that DNS records may not update as quickly for some. This could mean that these people will be seeing the "old" site still on Hostgator for some time (no longer than a day). But this is not a problem with the little activity we get here anyway.

The move is now complete. I have tested most things, but there is a chance that I forgot something, so if you run into any issues please let me know.

2007 - 2012 Pages!

Hey guys just a quick update here.

I've been slowly adding pages to our Full Page Archive these last few days. I have a ton more pages from the 2007-2012 layout that I can still add, so expect to see more popup over the next few days!

Let me know if there are any pages in particular that you guys would want to see. I'll try and get those up sooner!

Hey guys!

Sorry for the extended down time. I was hoping to get the site back up hours ago, but things happen. As I'm sure you've noticed, a bit has changed around here! We have a new system in place that lets us modify existing pages much easier than before. I can even allow other users to edit pages! This means we won't have months go by without any signs of an update! Page editors can get the site updated in record time now!

The new system also shows you what pages have been modified or added recently. Check the side bar on the main page! We are also able to see how many times a page was viewed so we can build a list of what pages are the most popular.

As of right now I still have a few things to fix. Mostly just a few dead links, or a page or two that still need updating. Either me or one of our editors will get to it soon. If you do run into a problem, let us know!

Again, welcome to the new NGA! I hope you guys like it!

SOPA/PIPA Blackout sort of thing.

At around 12AM tonight I will be taking the archive offline. We will remain offline for most of the day tomorrow (1/18).

This is in part to join the protests against SOPA and PIPA. Even though SOPA has been shelved, we still need to send the message that we will not tolerate legislation that has the power to have an  overwhelmingly negative impact on so many businesses, communities, and users.

When we come back online, expect a ton of changes. I'm talking a site wide redesign and update. I've been showing you guys little bits of the new layout over the past week and now you'll finally get to see the completed design! I'm hoping you guys can help me get some buzz going and generate a bit more traffic. So, help us out! Add a link to the NGA in your sig on NG, post a new blog about us, don't spam the BBS!

I'll see you guys on the other side!

New/Different pages

Ok, so I'm working on a little somethin somethin when I realize a few of the links in the main header are TOTALLY WORTHLESS! Not to name names or anything but... Sigs, mp3s, threads and links are SO UTTERLY POINTLESS.

So! Help me come up with what pages deserve to be among the main links for the site! We can choose NOT A SINGLE MORE THAN TEN. That's it.

What will be there NO MATTER WHAT:
- Images
- Logos
- Levels
- SWFs
- Pages
- BBS
